We're looking for an experienced, versatile Analyst or Engineer who can support the full spectrum of report development activities for our customers. We’re not just about the job title (you may call yourself a Business Analyst, BI Engineer, Reports Architect, etc.) but we’re looking for that someone who wants to own API analytics for the emerging API web economy. Our ideal team member is a superstar at interacting with customers in gathering their business reporting requirements, translating them into report specifications, development of reports and finally successful delivery of innovative graphical reports and tools that exceed customers expectations.
Our reporting owner is someone who loves the hard problem of turning mounds of data into something business people and technical people can easily understand and use to answer their questions. You should love business analysis, analytics, data modeling, query writing, report development and general reporting system design. We’re looking for a technically strong owner who will be the leader in the continuous review, design and architectural enhancement of our reporting solution, all while ensuring it scales to a robust and high performing reporting system.
The Role
- Work closely with the internal team and vendors to understand the current reporting system/tools, customer reporting process, and overall reporting needs
- Act as our reporting application expert and administrator, ensuring up-to-date customer reports and report enhancements
- Jump in and understand the current roadmap of reports and customer report requirements
- Continually define, design, test, and deploy new reports- all with the goal of providing a state-of-the art reporting environment
- Analyze complex data and reporting requirements then translate them into graphical masterpieces
- Work with managers, architects and developers to define interfaces between systems
Education/Experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field, with a strong academic record
- 6+ years of industry software development experience with 3+ years experience as a lead engineer or applicable experience working on reporting systems as a Business Analyst, Business Intelligence Engineer, etc.
- Strong experience with standard report development methodologies: both front-end and back-end processes
- Deep understanding of data optimization for application access and performance tuning
- Deep understanding of flexible design and scalability concepts
- Hands on experience in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL scripts
- Ideal candidate has solid domain knowledge around web services/APIs
Skills
- Exceptional skills at translating reporting requirements, both business and technical, into easy to understand analytics and reporting tools
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to clearly articulate technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to self-manage and project manage
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment with aggressive deadlines, regular releases and multiple priorities
- Should be a results oriented professional with amazing verbal/written communication skills and incredible customer service skills
- Experience with system logging tools, log data normalization and reporting a plus
- Very methodical and able to devise strategies for making sense out of mounds of data
